Soil testing/analysis also plays a vital role in organic farming. With the help of soil analysis, farmers can find out, either the soil is ideal for farming or not? They can check the amount of sulphur, zinc, iron, nitrogen, and copper etc. in the soil. Precise soil sampling combined with lab tests is important for determining the alkalinity and salinity of the soil.

Here are some examples, how organic farming benefits farmers and significantly contribute to the sustainable growth of Indian Agriculture.
  • Low financial investment - In, organic farming, a farmer need not make a huge investment just like the typical one. In this kind of farming, farmer can self - made natural chemicals and the fertilizers, so these expenses can absolutely be negligible.

Rajesh Rajora - Storm Water Management And Its Advantages

Agriculture is the backbone of India’s economy and around 70% of the population is totally dependant on agriculture. The present agricultural scenario is a mix of outstanding achievements and missed opportunities. To become the economic power in the world, India needs to increase the agricultural productivity. The country needs to adopt new technologies and must perform some researches, to help farmers.

According to Dr. Rajesh Rajora, we need a new and effective technology which can improve continuously the productivity, profitability, sustainability of our major farming systems. He said, there is a compulsion, that we manage storm water well. Collected storm-water during rain is one of the issues for which a few homes are currently equipped with storm-water management system. Collected rain water is reused that would overall be dumped into the sewage system.

Storm-water is water that comes from rain and it is run off lawns, streets, and other sites. If it is stored and reused, it will be saved from wasting and can help us to produce crops and can also be used for other means. Nowadays, people are aware of managing storm water and use it in better ways.

The water runs quickly into storm channels, sewer systems and seepage dump and can bring destruction of habitat, downstream flooding, contaminated coastal water, rivers and streams, overflows of combined sewer, damage to infrastructure, stream bank erosion etc.

Dr. Rajesh Rajora has been instrumental in formulating, planning and executing watershed projects in a holistic manner. He has postulated watershed as a unit of development, rather than just a geo-hydrological unit, thereby evolving the ‘Jhabua model’ of Integrated Watershed Management.

Watershed Management By Dr. Rajesh Rajora

India is a vast country and agriculture is a main source of income for many people. There has been tremendous researches and advancement in the technology, but nowadays there are many more challenges, which needs to be faced. Pests, weeds, and there are many diseases, which harm the crop.

Principal Secretary, Depts of Agriculture, Horticulture and Food Processing, Government of Madhya Pradesh, Dr. Rajesh Rajora has written a book, which is known as the “Integrated Watershed Management: Field Manual for Equitable, Productive and Sustainable Development”. According to him, effective water management must start at the watershed level, and that action must be taken in the context of watersheds. The book is very helpful for small, medium as well as the big farmers. They will know, how watershed is important in agriculture and how, they can grow more crops through it.

Storm Water And Its Management

Storm water is simply the water that results from any type of precipitation like rain, snow, ice, hail, or sleet. Storm water management is necessary to increase the chances of getting more crops without any harm from storm water. This water needs to be managed, as it can damage the crops and has impurities in it. In order to prevent injury and destruction to humans, property, and the balanced eco-system, it is important to control runoff water through storm water management models.
Storm water is destructive and it can lead to:
  • Destruction of habitat
  • Stream flow hydrograph changes
  • Downstream flooding
  • Contaminated coastal water, rivers and streams
  • Overflows of combined sewer
  • Damage to infrastructure
  • Stream bank erosion
  • Turbidity increases from erosion
